The quiet month.
I used to dislike the first month of the year. Too long. Too dark. Too nothing to do. As I’ve grown older I’ve changed my views about January. This is a month I look forward to now. Spring cleaning in the middle of winter. Fresh starts and second chances. Toss out the old and bring in the new.
Speaking of new, we made some new friends this month and I reconnected with some old friends:
El Gaucho and Bodie came a-calling with Gladie, Claire, Joel and Cooper. El Gaucho and his partner, Bodie, are a pair of visiting chihuahuas with flair and panache. Fido the cat did not approve. But it made us realize that we are looking forward to the day we find a new dog to become part of our family. Still holding off until retirement, though.
I reconnected with Rick and Gwen, friends from twenty years ago. It was so great to see them and their daughters Katie and Layne (all grown up!) and to meet their faboodle labradoodle, Winston. Looking forward to keeping in touch with them and seeing their son Ian again, who was one of Claire’s best childhood buddies.
It was a quiet month, and an enjoyable month.
